Two tier europe re Growth and stability pact

I think it was the week in politics when the option of temporarily breaching the growth and stability pact was mooted by pat rabbitte as a stopgap for our recession. The FF man said that wasnt an option despite the fact that other countries breached the pact when it suited them. In the context of the threats we are going to be getting in coming months re a two tier europe, it's worth noting that it already exists and to our disadvantage. One rule for the big countries and one rule for the small countries!

Re: Two tier europe re Growth and stability pact

Ever thought it may not be an option because FF would prfer to keep our deficit as low as possible (mind you, it might be a bit late for that now) and that it would have nothing to do Europe's attitude to smaller states?
We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know.
