    Of course not. Did the Irish government consider Mayo when it used to set our interest rates.

    However, its a fiction to claim Ireland ever really had control over our currency. Until 1979 the Irish Punt was fixed 1:1 to sterling. Our economic decisions were made in London. In 1979 we joined ERM.

    Ireland is too small to have a truely independent financial system. We are safer under the powerful ECB than the pretend independence we had under the Bank of England before 1979.

    Why are they getting rid of the Swedish wang and the Finnish bollacks? That gave hope to millions of women everywhere.

    Haha, the re-designed Euro coins will feature the entire continent - such as is practical - and not just the states. Part of the reason for that might well be the "Swedish wang"
    Talk about your member states.. ba dum tisch...

    And the bigger coins could be used as hubcaps.
