There is a humanitarian crisis in North Africa and we are doing very little to help. If anything, we should be taking in more not less immigrants.
There's a humanitarian crisis in the Republic of Ireland too.
People on or below the breadline, restricted access to healthcare, rising prices for utilities, etc.
Our country bears no responsibility for any crisis outside of our own borders. We haven't pillaged the resources of Africa or elsewhere. The countries that practised colonialism and empire building bear 100% of the responsibility and the onus is on them to make amends. Our own country is so economically ill at the moment that it behoves us to take care of our own, which we're not doing at present. Take in some 'genuine' refugees alright but enough is enough.

They're doing time travel now. Some guy from Afghanistan tele-ported himself from there to the N7 the other day.....he tried to flee Cloverhill prison using the same method, but the locals got jealous and persuaded him to stay..

This has been done to death, and is getting boring. So long as they're black, brown, tanned, yellow, Asian, African, Chinese, muslim, arab etc ........"certain people" have their "rehearsed" argument at the ready......that......those of us who want restrictions......are......racist/xenophobes/bigots and that we're bad bad people, and that its all the U.S and Britains fault, and colonialism and Israel and bolox.

They have no concerns about bogus migrants, trafficking, economics, terrorism, or the sheer numbers.

And just what is European culture?

It amazes me that many Irish people are against immigration when Irish people had no issue with millions of its citizens, over the years, emigrating to the four corners of the world. At the moment there's around 50,000 undocumented Irish illegal immigrants in the USA. Is it a case of let the Irish go live where they like to make a better life for themselves legally and illegally, but don't let immigrants come to Europe? Let these people try to get to Europe if they want and then decide if they are entitled to stay. You only need to close and seal borders if you are at war

The Jules Ferry reception centre at Calais needs to be closed down. Its essentially a rehash of the controversial Sangatte plant. I think its clear that France deliberately placed it there in order to offload its asylum seeker problem onto Britain and secondarily Ireland.

Fair play to Hungary for building a wall on the Serbian border. Over 100,000 illegals have crossed into Hungary from Serbia and ultimately some end up in Calais.

    Yes you do digress indeed.

People voluntarily and illegally transit through safe countries such as Turkey and Egypt or Algeria to go to a war zone such as Libya. They then cross the Mediterranean to enter the EU illegally.

That makes them illegals, not refugees.

The reason they find themselves in a humanitarian crisis in North Africa is because they put themselves there you dummy.

And those Irish emigrants are subject to whatever immigration requirements and processes that are in place in the countries to where they emigrate.I personally find it embarrassing when our senior politicians make the regular plea for the undocumented in America.

Many causes for Irish emigration over the years, lack of work opportunities being one of them, but with our unemployment levels, do we really need to be importing more unskilled people?

I notice that it seems to be ok for some countries to be against certain types of immigrants, but we in Ireland and Europe should throw open our borders and keep our mouths shut.
