Listening to some former asylum seeker complaining he was in direct provision for 3 years on TV3 .I think he may be a South African even more ridiculous as they are not visa required nationals .The fact is many Irish citizens are living in similar circumstances sub standard hotels . A official was asked about those long term in DP he replied we have a plan after 5 years .He did not elaborate reason they will get an amnesty. The number of asylum seekers shows an increase 1982 in 2016 compared to 2014 .

    Sure why would that matter?

No need to vet these 'children' at all

In fact just allow as many in as possible

Who cares about the cost to the taxpayers or the services that won't be done as the funding is cut

Success indeed- Crusty has his own voice and is not just a garbage collector.

You are correct about the age of children being relevant and with all the controversy about age, we would expect that when the Minister says they are in their teens that every effort would have been made to confirm their ages. You of course would prefer that all were telling lies and designated as older so that they would not be admitted. Your concern for age is just so you can find a loophole to prevent admission of any child irrespective of age.

As with the 11.3m, you would deny refugees any assistance so the amount is neither here nor there to you - its the fact that any money is used for people you would consign to your dustbin.

For my part, I consider the 11.3m wasted because of the lack of preparation and involvement of the designated host community. I would prefer to have seen this money spent in the ME, in Jordan or the Lebanon where these countries have been struggling at great personal and political cost to help in this catastrophe brought on by US and other external interference.

The 11.3m could have really made a difference to hundreds of those affected if used effectively and efficiently in those countries to provide a temporary safe haven. The refugees we need to take are those suffering specific trauma and physical problems which can not be treated locally and for which longer term help and rehabilitation is required. Also unaccompanied vulnerable children may need to be given safety in Ireland because of over-load on Jordanian and Lebanese facilities.

Why not drop all the 'law and order' type Muslim hate high-jacking of this terrible situation and attempt to more logically and fairly deal with the issues of this catastrophe. Recognise that our government has kept quiet while the US, British and other EU member states have bombed and drone targeted many tens of thousands of innocents in the name of 'democracy' but which translates into regime change of any non-compliant country. Our silence in the face of such prolonged conflict with Muslim countries makes us culpable in the slaughter which in turn leads to hate and reprisals which can not be solved by more violence and hate.

    BACKSEAT LIAR

Foreigner with little grasp of English passes theory driving test with help of mystery man on other end of hidden phone

Arabic speaker Zaid Sultan was able to seek outside help by hiding mobile phone in his sock

    Pretty clever idea in fairness

How could Sharia affect this problem:

Breitbart (Kershaw and Crusty swear by it) are planning to set up news outlets in France, Germany, etc this year... and to overtly push for anti-EU news and politicians. They are also unafraid to call in utterly fake news, such as their recent popular story that there was a 1,000-strong Islamic mob setting fire to "Germany's oldest church" on New Year's Eve.

The life that we see in Europe seems stable, peaceful... normal.

However, if you were to sit at home in the UK or Ireland and drink up the videos produced by the many alt-right sources, you'll see Europe as an economically dead zone, with endless footage of riots, immigrants, rioting immigrants, riot police - all to emotive music and burning questions about why mainstream media is not covering the social collapse of the EU.

Sources scour far and wide across the continent to find stories of repression of Christmas in a German school or rapes by Muslims.

It is all to weave a barrage of stories about the EU's social collapse at the hands of mass migration of Muslims... with an anti-EU audience hungry for more horror stories.

As Trump's new chief of strategy is now Steve Bannon, ex-editor of Breitbart... there is a clear threat that Europe could be deliberately undermined both from Putin and from Trump's team.

These are, of course, very powerful forces which we should be aware of and ensure that there continues to be no place in Ireland for Identity, Tommy Robinsons aka and other loons who tried and failed to get a foothold here.

Didn't Enda visit Saudi Arabia on a week that beheading and amputations were at their highest for a long time and it never entered his mind to condemn them. Do you not agree that he should have told the Saudi's that unless they allow Christians to build churches there and guarantee their safety that he would close down the Clonskeagh Mosque and other hotbeds of Sunni Muslim ideals in Ireland.? No doubt you will find some reason to dodge answering this question.

i think your giving enda too much credit .He might have a go about the dangers of sunbeds but hotbeds of sunni muslin ideals would be way above his level of understanding.

Speaking of Enda, no comment from him yet. Nothing from Francis Fitzgerald either, or Coveney, or any of them at all other than Zappone. Who was present in the Dail yesterday when this motion was put before them? Was there anyone there and why did they make no comment about it?
