    EU told to accept 20m migrant workers

    I think this is a good story for the anti immigrant/EU lobby on this site to fulminate over;

    Commissioner Frattini should mind his own business.

    The most sensible part of that article was at the end when he advocates sorting out illegal immigration. If the EU wants to absorb another 20 million immigrants, the individual countries must have some say in how many they can accept. The countries with good economies such as Ireland should not be expected to absorb a disproportionate amount of people who may have access from another EU state. Our welfare terms will make us a target for very large numbers of immigrant spongers who will drain us of money and resources.
    I thought we were doing quite well with the influx from our Eastern European partners in the EU, without having to rely on third world people of which a large proportion are scammers.

    The unemployment has dropped from 7.9% to 6.8% in a year. A labour shortage is kicking in, our economy is heating up. Obviously we're going to need foreign workers, Frattini sees this right (no matter how f**ked-up his views of the internet are). (And I believe Poland's unemployment rate is going to fall, once the infamous twins and their party are removed; then bye-bye polish immigrants)

    I heard about this blue card; the foreign worker needs to stay for several years in the member country before he can move to another.

    although........given the population problems of some places, it might be easier just to have a mass-adoption

    i have no issues with same as long as these people are skilled, will be beneficial to Europe and are carefully screened to ensure we're not bringing trouble upon ourselves, though the bigger issue will be the integration of these people so that we don't continue the case of many countries / start in the case of others (like us) ghettoisation (sp) and segregation of these immigrants, if its to work then these ppl need to be as well integrated as possible, pretty much like the US has achieved.

    ha. serioulsly, some parts of the continent are going down the sh1tter as far as the age profile goes, so as mad as it sounds, persuading Madonna to adopt another 20 or 30 million kids might be the way to go.....
