How many of you would actually want a United States of Europe?

(Mods, a poll would be great......). In the event of a referendum on joining a unites states of Europe (Scenario: It's 2030, We are back to a sterling-based punt, and we are doing fine. I know many would disagree, but I'm asking this purely on an ideological biases), what way would you vote? I think that the way I'd vote would be obvious, So I'll only bring up my opinions when needed. This is simply to gauge how many want a USE, and what form it should take.

Well as long as we get to elect the guys and girls to run it fine by me but a Anglo France/Germany USE fills me with dead feelings.
Advances in any field are built upon people with the small or personal view. Give Israel Your support, it needs it.

Appalling OP. Are we to assume a theoretical situation and then guess what we might do in a further theoretical vote?

And what would this USE look like? What are the institutions? How are we represented in those bodies? Is there a military component?

Toman, if you want a decent thread, pull this down and start again, ok?

    No offence.

That's what would happen here. America is not a good comparasion, for many reasons.

Why would we be back to a sterling backed punt? We're in the Euro for good.

There won't be a big bang creation of a United States of Europe like the Declaration of independence. It'll be a drip, drip pooling of sovereignty by the member states over many decades.

My preference is for an eventual federation of European states cooperating on issues of mutual importance, with a common defence and foreign policy, a shared currency with power concentrated with the democratically elected European parliament.
