Toman, your country has a unique and lovely culture, too.

However, you say you are a Nationalist, whereas I identify as more of an Internationalist (perhaps it must also be noted that being Nationalist or Internationalist, brings about different connotations in each different county, because of it's different political history.)

A, hypothetical, united Confederate Europe, should not mean white-washing anybody's culture or history. I believe, as general principle goes, that the people (not the bussiness lords...) of the whole world should be united and yet still be diverse. A, hypothetical, united Europe, should not mean white-washing anybody's culture or history.

But all this is highly hypothetical, anyway... In practice, there doesn't seem to be any much chance of a united europe, with the economoical and other conditions that prevail now. At least no united europe that I would care to have.

I think that smaller economic units bring about more wealth per capita than bigger ones. That's why I support Nationalism, or at least the economic reason for it. I mean, If you look at the top ten richest countries per capita, they are usually small countries. Same with the top ten in the HDI. Also, Ireland historically has being worse off in a previous political union (AKA one with Britain), so I don't by the argument that a United Europe will make Europe better-off. It would destroy your country's real economy, and whever you like it or not, a USE WILL whitewash your country's history. Look, once a country's name isn't on the map, it's people's history isn't going to be as well known.
I'm 16. I despise every current Irish party, except the SDLP and the Alliance(I support neither). Economic Left/Right:-5.12 - Social Libertarian/Authoritarian:-0.36

I can't follow your reasoning here at all.

On the economy side I refer to https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat.../2004rank.html
For HDI Indices & Data | Human Development Reports (HDR) | United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Many of the small well off states are well off either because of oil or offshore banking it seems to me, not because they are small. Many of the small countries cited in the ecomomy side of things are smaller than average Irish counties with Kildare/Galway sized populations. Should Kildare and Galway declare indepedence?

On the HDI side, eight of the top ten countries are Council of Europe members, a body which policies human rights. Four of these are EU (Netherlands (ranking = 3), Ireland (7), Germany, (9) and Sweden (10)). Populations vary from the largest top 10 member, USA (ranking=4) to the smallest (Liechtenstein=8).
