(Mods, a poll would be great......). In the event of a referendum on joining a unites states of Europe (Scenario: It's 2030, We are back to a sterling-based punt, and we are doing fine. I know many would disagree, but I'm asking this purely on an ideological biases), what way would you vote? I think that the way I'd vote would be obvious, So I'll only bring up my opinions when needed. This is simply to gauge how many want a USE, and what form it should take.

No way do i want to give more power to the EU look how they F**ked up the whole thing, what we need in Europe is less centralized control not more!! Your thread is an assumption (punt pegged to sterling) resting on an unknowable (nature and design of this USE).

It is wildly speculative and impossible to draw any conclusions from the thread/poll as you have totally failed to define the parameters of your debate.

I would prefer to see an United States of Europe.

I would prefer one ministry of finance and social services based on the German model.

I want to see an European ministry of research and development with a minimum spend of 3% of GDP of Europe.

I want to see all ministers and people in charge of each European Union department being directly elected to the European Union parliament as MEPs and European government being choosen from those directly elected representatives.

People such as Peter Madelson should never even have been allowed into the European beaurocracy, let alone appointed to a senior position.
