There was a lack of integrity shown in the the way the European elite went about the ratification of their precious Lisbon Treaty. They deliberately repackaged the European Constitution as the Lisbon treaty; specifically so that they could avoid holding referenda in France and Holland; for fear that those nations would not give the "correct" answer: if given the chance. That was a dishonest, sleazy manoeuvre; matched by the relentless emotional blackmail and bullying of the Irish electorate.

You are not allowed to say "NO" to Europe!

P.S. Passer-by, do you believe that only 27 people should be allowed to decide if the Lisbon Treaty was passed? That's the way the professional politicians want it!

It certainly wasn't the case that only 27 people were allowed to decide if the Lisbon Treaty was passed. Hence, I am not sure how the word should applies to the Treaty at this stage - since it is has already come into force, it has, as a result, already caused the modification of the EU Treaties to their post-Lisbon versions.

Sarkozy decided for France, Brown for Britain and Merkel for Germany. Cowen would have decided for Ireland, but he had to con the electorate into endorsing his decision.

The "should" applies to the method of ratification: not the time.

Do you know how perliamentary politics works? The party votes the way the party leader tells them to. That's way I say that the decision was made by 27 people.

A party leader doesn't remain party leader for very long if their party decides to ignore them (and/or dump them). A party leader can only lead in the direction his party is willing to go.

You are not seriously trying to suggest that were a Head of Government in favour of Lisbon and their Parliament opposed to it, that it would have passed, are you?
