EU President Announces New Taxes at Bilderberg Meeting

The man tipped to be Europe’s first president is already considering new EU taxes to fund the rising cost of Brussels and the welfare state.

Herman Van Rompuy, the Belgian Prime Minister, broke his silence before Thursday’s summit to choose the president — but only at a meeting of the secretive Bilderberg group of top politicians, bankers and businessmen.

So much for the influence of the shadowy "Bilderberg Group" existing only in the minds of "conspiracy theorists".

Van Rompuy met Kissinger at a closed session of international policymakers and industrialists chaired by Viscount Etienne Davignon, a discreetly powerful figure in Brussels who was vice-president of the European commission in the 1980s. The viscount currently chairs the Bilderberg Group, the shadowy global freemasonry of politicians and bankers who meet to discuss world affairs in the strictest privacy, spawning innumerable conspiracy theories. Van Rompuy, it seems, attended the Bilderberg session to audition for the European job, calling for a new system of levies to fund the EU and replace the perennial EU budget battles.

The Bilderbergs do exist. They meet every May. May 2008 for example a not well known Timothy Geither was one of the main speakers at the conference 8 months before he got appointed Treasury Secretary by Obama.

Geithner was well known, he was President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for 6years prior to becoming Treasury Secretary. The New York Federal Reserve is the largest of the twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks in the USA. The New York Fed carries out all foreign-exchange related activity on behalf of the United States Treasury.

Do you mean unknown by the average bystander on the street? Most finance officials are relatively unknown to the average bystander on the street in the absence of supreme controversy. Most members of the cabinet remain unknown to the average bystander in most countries.

McCain was going to appoint him too if he won. The Bilderberg meeting every May is strictly speaking unlawful. Do you love the Federal Reserve or something? Do you know it debased the dollar by 95% since its conception in 1913? Do you know its unconstitutional in the United States? Are you aware that despite broad support for Ron Paul's HR 1207 Bill to have it Audited is being flatly rejected by forces within the Federal Reserve. At least there is transperancy in our Central Bank.

Here's an article about his speech back in May 2008, 8 months before he was appointed,

I had to laugh when I read this about Van Rompuy

Kristen Hemmerechts, a well known Flemish essayist, has compared his looks to the Extra-Terrestrial film character made famous by Steven Spielberg. "I can't look at a picture of him without thinking: ET," she wrote recently.

It seems that by voting 'yes' to Lisbon, the Irish people have handed themselves as slaves to the Bilderbergers. I always knew that Lisbon would be bad for democracy.

Up until now, a lot of people believed that the Bilderberg Group was not some shadowy attempt at a world government run by the elite, but just some informal chin-wag forum.

The evidence that they do, in fact, run the show is mounting.

Earlier this year the Guardian sent a guy to Greece to blog on the Bilderberg meeting. He started out treating the gig as a light-hearted jaunt.

It wasn't long before he changed his mind.

Publicity is pure poison to the world's global power elite. So we should all turn up to its next annual meeting with a few more tubs of the stuff, writes Charlie Skelton

Ten years ago, when Jon Ronson dared to report on Bilderberg, he found himself "chased by mysterious men in dark glasses through Portugal". He was scared for his safety.

"When I phoned the British embassy and asked them to explain to the powerful secret society that had set their goons on me that I was essentially a humorous journalist out of my depth, I wasn't being funny. I was being genuinely desperate," he wrote. I know exactly how he feels.

Only out of sheer desperation did I try to arrest one of the goons following me and then follow my flimsy leads up the Greek police ladder, finally catching one of the goons wet-handed in the lavatory of the department of government security. And only then did I know the extent of Bilderberg's paranoia: they had set the state police on me.

So who is the paranoid one? Me, hiding in stairwells, watching the pavement behind me in shop windows, staying in the open for safety? Or Bilderberg, with its two F-16s, circling helicopters, machine guns, navy commandos and policy of repeatedly detaining and harassing a handful of journalists? Who's the nutter? Me or Baron Mandelson? Me or Paul Volker, the head of Obama's economic advisory board? Me or the president of Coca-Cola?

It makes me want to spit, the absurdity of it: the cost, not just in Greek tax euros, but on my peace of mind, of having (conservatively) a dozen Jack Bauers assigned to tailing me. I hope the operation at least had a cool name: Operation Catastrophic Overreaction, perhaps.

So, yes, Bilderberg's paranoia is half to blame. But there is another reason why Ronson was hounded round Portugal, why I was chased round Greece, and why on Sunday the Romanian journalist Paul Dorneanu was strip-searched by goons in Vouliagmeni, held for four hours and forced to purge his camera of images (for the crime of trying to film the delegates leaving). And it is this: they can harass and detain us only because so few of us are there.
