Fianna Fáil save Berlusconi embarrassment with sneaky last minute vote switch

Just when others here are debating if Italy's lack of free press is sufficient to be kicked out of the EU : Fianna Fáil abstained without any warning on a vote to censure Italy in the EP.

The motion was defeated by a mere 3 votes... and the 3 Fianna Fáil members own party , the Liberal Group - was very annoyed

RTE- Liberal anger at Fianna Fáil abstentions

Do we have any moral courage ?

Scum of a feather etc. If FF members could read and write we probably would have a much more controlled media, lets be thankful for that at least!

I don't think Gallagher, Aylward and Crowley are lacking courage, let's just say the quality of people we send to the EU is commensurate to the parliament they inhabit.

As somebody who knows that FF have no business in the ELDR, im not at all suprised.

FF are a conservative party through and through. The Cope is clearly thinking from an isolationist, dancin at the crossroads, perspective. If this is not the height of conservativism, the I dont know what is.

The ELDR will have their first major doubts about their new found allliance tonight.

There was a mere 3 votes in the margin... FF pulled off a surprise abstention

So given the tight margin it would appear valid to make FF the issue

Well...when you think of it ...look what the "free press" have done in this country to the bold Bertie and ..of course how they hounded out Johnny Cash!....SIGH!

Far be it for me to defend FF, but if 3 FF absentee votes were the margin in defeating the vote, surely it means that the rest of the EP was evenly divided on the vote.
