That's a very common misconception. Norway is more worried about the fish than the oil/gas resources. And the idea that Norway is totally outside the EU is not true. Norway adopts an enormous amount of EU directives....via it's relationship with the EEA (with iceland & Switzerland)...so many, in fact that it's practically already a member by proxy.

I always chuckle when I see anti-eu people point to Norway as an example of how "it's okay to stay outside the EU".

    The irony.

Norway's transparent Tax lists published : The *Skatteliste*.

    l wonder what they'd call a general publication (to media) of our country's 2008 tax-take ? :

Most of the crony millionaires aren't resident here, maybe we need two lists.

indeed most of them do not see the benefits of paying taxes to our economy- talk about biting
    the hand that feeds.

That is ridiculously transparent, I know a few people on it - hilarious.

Nearest we have to it is the publishing of all the CAP payments.

With a list like that we wouldn't need tax-clearance certs

This is dangerous ,and the way the economic situation is now ,kidnapping someone is very real.
It's ,rotten, governmental control, something like this can cause embarrassment for people by nosy neighbours, create class stereotyping. Its disgusting that people allow rotten government elites to put their lives on show for their amusement and the amusement of others. The nanny state gone mad.

Not a new story but apparently these returns are listed on their tax website today. Seems it lists tax returns for everyone in the country & I was told today lots of people searching co-corkers and neighbours details. Would this work in Ireland? Not sure if I would favour it...

Interesting that Norway PM only earns E125k in a country with very high standard of living. No chance our "PM" would vote for something like this on his salary.

<Mod> This thread has been merged with "Norway's transparent Tax lists published : The *Skatteliste*." </Mod>
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

Yeah, because kidnappings of wealthy businessmen are unheard of in Ireland, for example.
