The GBS was initiated to digitise all books published before January 2009. lt is not a libraries project that is bound in the ethics of copyright and intellectual property rights but a deal that Google made with authors and libraries as part of their ongoing digitisation project. l know individual authors who have already taken legal advice and opted out of the deal. one being a serious poet whose novels were classified as 'juvenile' ffs.
