    Voting balance

    Please could someone explain the balance of Council seats in DL/R Council? Would Boyd Barrett be able to block a developement of a library in this park?

    FG 11, Lab 8, FF 4, PBP/SWP 2, Ind 1 Not Sure who's in charge though. Any body know? Could be either FG/FF or FG/Lab.

    Thanks Fianna Fáiler, well either way it doesnt seem to matter what Boyd-Barrett stands for with regard to these issues, the political reality is thus that the responsibility for any concrete decision lies with those who control the council, and anyway the larger party's tend to find a broad consensus when it comes to development!

    I believe that the FG/Lab alliance has been renewed but I haven't spoken to any of the councillors.
    I can see how RBB objected to the baths being developed as there was a profit motive driving it but the council are building the library, the present library is too small and the site could not accomodate an extension. I suspect, like the baths, RBB never used the library, unlike Fianna Failer? (sorry, can't find the fada on netbook)
    If engineers were wrong as often as economists, would anyone fly aeroplanes?

    Why did you bother? Its actually the present state of Moran Park that I don't like, as I said, its a quite parochial thread
