Kensington, did you happen to read the dates on those reports, look forward to the next ones
I have. Are you telling me that they have proven them to be wrong? Do you have the link?

What is the common must have, for both nuclear and wind power, without which, neither is a commercial proposition
political will and money. Due to the economic circumstances, i would refocus completley on the nuclear. When we have ensured a reasonable energy supply, the we can invest in wind.

We are the laughing stock of Europe as regards our rejection of nuclear.

This would surely force the price upwards without having to curtail production.
back in the day production was linked to reserves: the more declared reserves, the more you could produce.
that's why many people believe we have no idea how much is left and many believe it is much less than oil producing nations say.

we are the laughing stock for other reasons.
as for nuclear, they find our refusal to embrace it just mildly amusing.

Check the IEA's position on Uranium resources and, for that matter, the British white paper in energy. You will be unpleasently surprised. We would only need 20 tonnes a year. We could easily get one large shipment which could last us a decade.

We would not even have to worry about the waste.
Wonder where the waste magically disappears to and what can you possibly make from it.

However good luck with your proposal but again what is the common commercial need of both wind and nuke

No, it would have to be reprocesses or stored.

However good luck with your proposal bit again what is the common commercial need of both wind and nuke
    surprise me.

Tell me, what country succesfully provides a majority of its electricity through wind power? Please say Denmark.

what does reprocessing do to the waste?
What a nice gift to your great grandchildren, stored nuclear waste!

    surprise me.
    Pumped hydro storage

None so far, we can be the first.

A long time ago wheelbarrows were high technology, and then some gobdaw turned his back to front and tied it to a horse, and then another idiot replaced the horse with an engine.......

It can be reused in certain nuclear reactors. If we don't go nuclear, we will be leaving future generations of Irish people in dire trouble.

    Nuclear waste is easily stored.

You need it for wind but, as you know, it is very inefficient. There would not be a very great need for it if you had nuclear, not any greater than a coal plant.

None so far, we can be the first
We have got to be realistic. This is not a game. We can see very clearly the effects of economic depression have on people. it is not pretty.

We are playing a very dangerous game with our future. It is the responsibility of the Governemnt to achieve energy security. They are failing to do so, by rejecting the nuclear option.

Aw sure I know, Sure don't I live within a hundred miles of a reprocessing plant and that's an easy operation to manage, safe too I believe

Inefficient,I know nothing of the sort, and you are showing a complete lack of knowledge of the economics of running a nuke

Am I naive in the view that peak oil or not the price will rise because the countries such as China or India are increasing their demands on the supply, whereas the price of renewable options are coming down for the same reason, and as the supply is limitless in a practical sense, economies of scale come into play in a positive fashion

Hobbs was told, to stop telling people what Fianna Fail and the developers / business cartels are really up to in Ireland, or he would not get back on TV again. So, he is now an oil expert. Remember, that our national broadcaster is run by the Dail. They know that we cannot blame them for peak oil.
