I thought the moo moo's .oink oinks etc where a major cause of green house gases according to he green hippies .Would keeping them alive not create more farting climate change.
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

I'm guessing that the idea might be that if demand was lower, fewer animals would be bred?

Not sure that their farts are the biggest or only issue environmentally. Its not a very efficient way of producing food in any case.

Demand would be lower, but the way veggies are grown today,it would make damn all difference.

Already there, every day is a meat free day !

The issue here might be is all very well for Paul McCartney is pontificate on this issue. His late wife was a vegetarian, so I am sure he is no stranger to a meat free diet. As he is quite rich, he may also have his own cook, so he may not have do the cooking.

Just leaving meat out of one's diet is why a lot of people may try vegetarianism and then give it up, after feeling hungry a lot. To replace meat in the diet, requires some research into recipies and nutrition. For a start, it might be a good idea to google some good balanced meal ideas. For a beginner, this is worth doing, as even if you are used to cooking meat/fish, cooking good appealing vegetarian food involves a slightly different approach.

Another minus in this suggestion is that many may resort to pre made heavily processed vegetarian food, which would defeat the whole purpose of the exercise in the first place.

A good diet needs to be balanced, be it omnivore, carnivore or herbivore.

I think itsan alright idea. Sure I don't like McCartney or any other pop star telling me what to do but that doesn't mean it should be dismissed straight off. The missus is a veggie so I actually eat meat only a few times a week. It does me no harm and if i do occasionally want a steak I can get it.

The French closed all butchers a few days per week during WW1 to try reduce meat consumption, this seems to be where he got the idea.

There's a website to go with this idea - Meat Free Mondays

Includes recipe ideas, ready meals, and restaurants. Could be a lot less high fallouting. but then maybe that's the market that it's aiming at ?

    The Vegetarian Society
VegWeb.com - Vegan Recipes and Cooking Tips
    Viva!

are much better resources on the recipe front.

A phrase was invented for Paul McCartney; more money than sense. He is a stupid old man.

Anyone else sick of these whiney veggies? I for one am sick of going to the effort of cooking them a different dish when they come around for dinner, but when I go to their place they insist I eat veggie.

but if humans eat more fibre via vegatables then humans would be farting dangerous methane into the atmosphere also...ah, i see where this is going...first reduce the demand for animals, then when people are sufficiently weakened from a diet of tofu, start eliminating humans. is mccartney a cylon?

people will be given a calorie credit card.
if you exceed your daily allowance (2000 for wimmin, 2400 for office workers and 3000 for actual workers) you pay up.
i just made that up and will be adding it to the manifesto.
