Those people(S2S) are determined to drag us back to the stone age.

Depressing stuff. How was that woman allowed to teach children?
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

A bunch of tree hugging hippies with no respect for law and order.

They should be locked up for breaking the law.

And wheres the bruises by the mercenry shell thugs.

Its like a socialists wet dream down there.

Completely one-sided in terms of how much time they gave to the police/Shell side and how much they gave to the protestors, in terms of editing biased too in all likelihood and especially in how the protest group were criminalised in the report - Williams is a writer on gangland too so even choosing him casts aspersions.

One thing that is clear to me now (i wasn't sure before) is that we really will not get one red cent from the gas, otherwise the report would have covered that... The only reason they gave for making sure Shell can continue unopposed is that they might sue us, that our reputation for dealing with multinationals is preserved (as though this company taking our resource is the same as any multinational coming in and opening a factory) and that the 'gas will flow'.

Pretty much what i expected. If the pipeline goes boom by accident someday it will be turned into an IRA-attack storyline, as 1974 and other similiar attacks were... and used to justify further public control measures.

I shouldn't even comment on this for fear of being tainted by association but that must stand as one of the finest examples of tabloid television ever witnessed. Does Paul Williams think we have no intelligence? Does he really believe that ordinary people cannot decipher such blatant spin, innuendo, lies and cringeworthy stupidity? All he was missing were the underlined words, bold print and false indignation.
I can understand why it was shown on TV3 and not RTE - they have some standards in RTE.
TV3 is televisual snot, Lowbrow American imports and vapid trash like Expose, but don't underestimate how many people will believe that report... me, it makes me wonder if half the gangland criminals Williams writes about are really solid upstanding citizens.

There was no need for Williams to put any spin on the normally voluble Harnett's refusal to comment on the lack of a S2S candidate in any election.
    It spoke volumes.

I see hartnett admitted that it was "concerned locals" that wrecked the fence then,
Not "balaclaved mercenary thugs employed by Shell" as alledged here..........

Was there any mention of the deal done to give Shell the gas? The deal done by those 2 most honest of Irishmen, ahern and burke?

Nice to see how Harrington has so little regard for any other views "not even if the majority of the people of Erris, or the rest of Ireland wanted it, will we stop what we're doing here".
