Renewable energy is owned by nobody, if Ireland does not harvest the wind it continues on its travels to be harvested in Britain or Europe, likewise if we do not harvest wave energy it will return to the US.

Spirit of Ireland and the Renewable Energy Council of Ireland believe a large proportion of it should be harvested and sold by the citizens of Ireland through a Co op arrangement.

That does not preclude others from doing it differently.

And there are many ways in which the state can benefit.

Well, we don't 'own' the natural gas off our north western shores - Shell does. So before some other 'Shell' sweet-talks the whores we have in the Dail, I just wanted to know, who exactly are we selling out to?

If the Irish repossessed the Corrib Gas Fields, we could invest in more than 1000% renewable energy

    Yeah, and pigs might fly.

Still awaiting a reply: Who are the names and faces who will own our renewable resources?

I'm pointing out that it is a political decision to commit to wind power which can be reversed just like e-voting (after it was shown not to work).

No - that's why I posted the latest tests. So when others claim that large scale tidal or wave will save the day for SoI they are being misleading.

The latest proposal is for 1.8GW of wind power connected to a 1GW Pumped Storage Station using one of the 100GWhr reservoirs. The plan is to provide 600-1000MW output to the grid.

Go ahead and run the numbers for this and see what you get - the data is available from Eirgrid (Installed wind capacity at 13OCT09 was 1161MW).

Assume the reservoir is full at your start date.

If the SoI scheme produced a constant 1000MW output from 01DEC09 the reservoir would be empty on 15DEC09

If the SoI scheme produced a constant 600MW output from 01DEC09 the reservoir would be empty on 24JAN10 .

No mystery here. They can't even supply their minimum output of 600MW.

    energy

Perhaps you might now like to publish the names of the thermal power stations who produced their full rated output 24/7 for the month of December.

SoI cannot meet their minimum output of 600MW never mind their full rated output of 1000MW.

see http://www.eirgrid.com/media/EirGrid...ber%202009.pdf for performance of existing plant. How does your "natural energy plant" compare with these ?

I see the wind generation at present on the Grid is a staggering 20MW Wind Generation | Eirgrid

It will compare very well, I would suggest that you are attempting to extrapolate presently existing metrics into a new concept, why not wait until the project is formally launched and then do your analysis.

It is obvious that you are technically aware, why not accept my offer of a personal briefing.

Will SoI be taking part in the Front Line show on energy?
    no pasaran!
