    A Brilliant Idea.

VERTICAL GARDEN by PATRICK BLANC - MUR VEGETAL - GREEN WALL - LIVING WALL

Just the thought of eyesores being transformed into vertical gardens is inspiring.

Yours truly has already started to experiment. Fast growing cress on peat on a chicken wire frame. 8ft by 4ft panel to begin with laid horizontally. The idea is for the roots to bind the plants to the wire and therefore become self supporting.

Ideas on watering once the panel is vertical are welcome.

Have vertical lawnmowers been invented yet?

Good idea nonetheless. It has imagination. I think Dublin, or indeed the world, would be a better place if such a concept took off. Wildlife would love it. Birds particularly.

Vegetal wall and Guerilla gardening are too great ideas to bring nature back to urban areas.

    There's a huge one in Madrid - it's deadly.

Nice idea. For watering, would rain work? A hosepipe on spray?

Well now.........let me see. This is Ireland.........right? Inclement weather an' all that.

But then sometimes we take holidays in the sunny weather and we cannot rely on other people.

OK then it's cactus plants and air plants. In the dry season !

Pretty easy to water. Get some of the pipe thats used in pubs to take beer from cellar to pump as its very flexible, very thin and spread throughout the wall will lots of little connectors that can drip feed water when its turned on.

Have seen it used quite a lot in places where people have lots of hanging baskets.
