    One other thing...

    Not all of those plugs are transformers, many of them (particularly the ones that are very light) are switched-mode power supplies. These are a LOT more efficient on stand by:

    A transformer will generally be a big heavy plug which runs quite warm.

    Switch-mode supplies are much lighter and usually support a range of voltages typically will say "100-240V" (so they work everywhere).
