The Qalerallit Sermia glacier front retreating over the past four years, with 2017 at the bottom. In 2014 (top), it was one wide glacier front – now it is three separate fronts.

Nuclear renaissance in ruins: SC abandons plants 40% done, customer bills up 18%. @bradplumer has the story.

In a major blow to the future of nuclear power in the United States, two South Carolina utilities said on Monday that they would abandon two unfinished nuclear reactors in the state, putting an end to a project that was once expected to showcase advanced nuclear technology but has since been plagued by delays and cost overruns.

All you need to do to avert a crisis and collapse of your electricity grid is close down your industry:

South Australia, which is witnessing a collapse in its electricity grid due to its commitment to "renewables", is solving the problem by closing industry. Marvellous...

    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/08/...ctricity-grid/

Don't tell me these people aren't complete and utter morons.

Why, hell, if they close down ever factory and company they will be able to go 100% renewables!
It really is amazing how everything out of your mouth is twisted and distorted in some way Trainwreck, you have to be the most deceitful individual on P.ie. Try getting your news from somewhere besides Breitbart and other denier blogs. They arent closing factories because they dont have the power, the factories are closing because of the collapse of manufacturing industry in Australia the same way its collapsed across the Western World. The Australian auto industry has been declining for decades and is nearly completely dead now, it has nothing to do with renewable energy, that factory was scheduled for closure years ago.

By the way its not renewable power thats the problem in Australia, its mismanagement and lack of investment, Australia is an ideal candidate for switching to zero carbon energy sources. The blackout events that started the "collapse of the electricity grid" meme as Trainwreck puts it (just a hint of alarmism there?) on the denier blogs was caused by storms destroying transmission lines, it wouldn't matter if the electricity was generated by burning coal or wind/solar, there still would have been massive blackouts.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and ministers were told wind not to blame for South Australia blackout

Btw the ever increasing peak power use in Summer in Australia is mainly due to increased air conditioning and refrigeration demand, mainly because every year in Australia is hotter than the one before, literally every month shatters the record that was set the year before, but of course thats all bullshít propaganda.

Those photographs clearly show sea ice. It is the extant of glacial ice into the bay.

Now here is the problem. You show photos of a single example of Greenland sea ice, covering a mere 3 year gap and claim this is proof of a global phenomenon of atmospheric warming (produced by CO2 concentration, but for this purpose, the cause is irrlevant).

Problem is, this isn't even representative of wider area of Greenland. There has been no reduction in sea ice over the last 10 years, as documented here:

    https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.word...-same-as-2006/

Now, what I suggest you do is look at the top two photographs, which clearly show a black/grey deposit increasingly covering the end of the glacier and in particular the ice encroaching into the sea. That would massively increase the albedo, leading to a warming of the ice and consequently melt on the spot.

A quick application of Occum's razor, deploying these two known facts:
    1. there was no general change in sea ice around Greenland
    2. there was an obvious increase in albedo in that particular precise location

Leads to the obvious explanation that this was just a short term change driven by local conditions unrelated to anthropogenic global warming.

And hey presto, yet another Alarmist lie is debunked.

If you wanted to get all "sciency" about it, you could look to investigate the cause of this grey substance. Might I suggest first investigating what happened to the massive amount of ash ejected from Eyjafjallajokull in 2010?

Massive volcanic discharge from Iceland settling on Greenland glaciers, increasing albedo and producing melt?

Just by the by. Where I wonder is this glacier located? far south, closer to /Iceland, or far north, further away from Iceland? Hmmmm, I wonder...

like ol Trump, you too, conveniently ignore the fact that emissions per capita for the US are currently almost ten times that of India & close to twice that of China,
& if we consider historical emissions that have caused the AGW over the past century, the per capita emissions for India & China are very small in comparison of those of the US.

i'm sure that Trump has been made aware of these facts - of course that won't stop him from spreading his "fake news"
hopefully - now that you are aware of the facts, you won't be taken in anymore by Trump's " fake news" on the Paris Agreement".

    oh yes - there is

    for example -
don't suppose you found a cartoon in one of those looney extreme right wing yankie sites that you frequent,
showing the emissions per capita ?

Trainwreck is lying, but we expect nothing else.

Some good may come out of South Australia's problems though.

Elon Musk's Tesla to build world's biggest lithium ion battery to secure power for South Australia

Large scale, low-cost energy storage would facilitate the installation of more renewable energy farms. I think an even bigger one is planned for South Australia also. It will carry on the energy revolution that is happening, and to which the Luddites are oblivious.
