another angle ... Chinese debate positive side of global warming

Academics in China are debating whether global warming could benefit rather than harm the country, with some historical climatologists believing the country did better during warmer periods.

They point to studies that show a drop in temperature and desertification accelerated the Mongol invasions of the 13th century.

Sahara Desert Greening Due to Climate Change?

Desertification, drought, and despair—that's what global warming has in store for much of Africa. Or so we hear.

Emerging evidence is painting a very different scenario, one in which rising temperatures could benefit millions of Africans in the driest parts of the continent.

Scientists are now seeing signals that the Sahara desert and surrounding regions are greening due to increasing rainfall.

If sustained, these rains could revitalize drought-ravaged regions, reclaiming them for farming communities.

This desert-shrinking trend is supported by climate models, which predict a return to conditions that turned the Sahara into a lush savanna some 12,000 years ago.

Not to mention that if we stall current climate temperature ( which we cannot and admitted by the climatologists, the most they say we can do is slow it down which is also BS anyway, man has little to no effect on the warming that is happening) then Ireland would continue with this particularly rainy spell we are having.

I call for more warming so that Ireland can have better weather, the africans can live in paradise and the chinese can have a golden age. Maybe we will start exporting to China sometime?

    Earth's Upper Atmosphere Cooling Dramatically

When the sun is relatively inactive — as it has been in recent years — the outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere cools dramatically, new observations find.

I agree, it is a huge scam. That's why most of the "warmies" or "alarmists" you hate are against carbon trading. But doesn't it just prove that the US and UN are corrupt rather than that AGW is a false theory?

Every country in the world agrees in rhetoric to set a goal of 2 degrees above 19th century temperatures. If emissions continue at current rates, 2007 science indicates that we will be in for up to 6.4 degrees of warming in this century. While 1 or 1.5 degrees of further warming might benefit China or Sahara nations (though I will wait for the scientific debate to happen before I make my mind up), everyone knows that these temperature rises are inevitable. It is temperatures much hotter than this which we need to prevent from occurring.

According to Met Eireann, wetter winters are going to be normal in the future due to global warming, but we will get drier summers too. What of the last three summers then? Their wetness is due to an El Nino effect in the Atlantic.
"But do 'climategate' revelations justify the sceptics’ claims that this is “the final nail in the coffin” of global warming theory? Not at all. They damage the credibility of three or four scientists. They raise questions about the integrity of one or perhaps two out of several hundred lines of evidence."

More accurately, it is useful to highlight the ongoing contradictions and plethora of inconsistent data and information that circulates about this "problem" that we are "so certain about".

Wakeup's problem is that he takes it and parades it as gospel when climate scientists (never mind that they agree with AGW) breathe a word about "observed cooling" or "positive effects of climate change" but then in another thread, dismisses all climate scientists as corrupt and politicised.

Who states that they are "so certain about" AGW? Who is that a quote from? Please do not say Al Gore. The IPCC even is not certain, but it says it is 90% sure of the AGW theory. That is a good enough reason to act upon it.

Well that was really constructive. I suppose my source, the 2007 IPCC Report, is not science in your book?

Of course not. Don't you know that data in subsection g of subsection k in section 236 came from data compiled by Professor X who left out a full stop in email 9458 in 1989!
