I get seriously wound up by people complaining about the lack of bins.

For two reasons, firstly there should be more bins and options to separate waste and a massive increase in pick ups.

Secondly, reduce the amount of waste you generate pigs and bring your waste home.

We are a filthy, ignorant, uncaring society. Littering is of zero concern to people as they know nothing will ever be done to punish litterbugs or tag "artists"

I separate all my waste, compost and recycle everything I can. I have about 1 bag of general waste per month now.

It's a matcho thing unfortunately..I live near a secondary school and the guys go down to a local store on lunch break.
They sit on a wall to eat their grub and just toss the wrappings on the ground even though there is two bins right beside them ...

Correct Rodney, like the guy or gal who allows their Labrador to back out a heap of copper bolts on your lawn, and walks away.

    True.

There are simply not enough street sweepers to handle the problem.

The government saves a few bob, then they award themselves a rise for doing such a good job.

Did you see the photo in the link? There ain't any fast food wrappers in it.

Plus a lot of the dumping is by f***wits who simply won't pay bin charges and choose instead to dump their sh!t wherever they feel like it... in someone elses neighbourhood...

Cans and plastic bottles are another curse dumped by p!ss artists particularly in hot weather when getting sh!t faced is on booze in the sun is a national past time...

Here's an interesting fact; there are no bins in the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin. They were remove some years ago because of the tonnage of litter that was collected. The gardens are impeccably clean. There are 'constables' (gardeners) patrolling.

But yes, we are pigs. There was a slogan in Val d'Isere in the day which said "cleaning up is good, not making a mess is even better!"

My pet hate is cigarette butts.

How do smokers find it acceptable to smoke a cancer stick and then just throw it on the ground.
