    Nuclear Power for everyone?

Toshiba has apparently developed a new Micro Nuclear Reactor which is 100x smaller than previous nuclear reactors. More info is here.

Should a business or even a community group/co-op decide they want to install and operate a micro nuclear reactor here, what is to stop them from doing so?

Is there an actual law which makes it illegal to operate a nuclear reactor in the RoI?
What would the average county council planning office have to say on the topic? Could they even reasonably refuse planning permission?

Even if they did, given the small dimensions of the reactor, it would presumably be possible to import one using a standard truck container, install it and then apply retrospectively for planning permissions(as happens with other developments all too frequently).

Finally, anyone know any good constituencies to install one in?

We don't want Chernobyl-type birth defects in this country either from an accident or a terrorist attack on a nuclear plant. No No No.

They have finally overcome the mass problem. Wonder what efficiencies thay are getting?

Should be an interesting development though how cheap immediately comes to mind. Li-6 is certainly not.

A few big plants are difficult enough to moniter, imagine trying to deal with loads of little ones.

From experience, small systems are much easier to deal. Their problem is efficiency.
