    Carbon Tax.

As if we weren't taxed enough, it looks like we will have a punitive carbon tax imposed on us in the near future. If governments were really concerned about climate change (the climate has been constantly changing since the dawn of time, btw) then they would be offering incentives not punishments for reducing CO2 emissions in the form of tax breaks. But tax breaks aren't a giant cash bonanza for our exalted guardians of Mother Earth, the loving government/UN, who are going to tax the living hell out of us for our own good and for the very survival of mankind, while lining their own pockets. When will people realise that politicians are not serious about the environment and manmade Global warming/Climate Change is a huge scam that is going to be used as an excuse to raise more revenue from "green" taxes.

Cap and share is the most sensible way of dealing with climate change. If adopted now, it will save being forced to ration energy in the future. Which we will be.

Should be based on territory not total number of citizens . Surely, each nation owns all the air above it ?

Anyway, this represents a transfer of wealth from rich countries to poorer countries.

I would propose it being made revenue neutral in each individual country. Funds paid for releasing CO2 would be used as a subsidy for cleaner production.

Actually, is that the proposal for cap and share where they say that it is 'scalable'? All payments would be paid to citizens of the country involved ?

In fact, as long as the cost per tonne is equal worldwide, then this at least prevents it from being a transfer from rich to poor countries.

No, that doesn't make sense. Industry, energy, and consumptive needs, are not proportional to land area but number of people.

Cap and trade you mean? Which we have already?

Cap and trade is only as good as the creators of the market make it, which is where the EU's first try at it slipped up on.

A Carbon Tax makes much more sense, and would seem to be the most efficient route.
And it is an incentive, Carbon Taxes incentivise people to use less 'polluting' materials.

Just looked it up. Seems carbon tax would still be the most efficient route. Cap and Share looks more complicated than Cap and Trade and less practical..
