Car Producers being let off in climate change debate

The European Parliament has failed to agree on a report which would have made huge improvements in the fight against carbon emmissions.

'The centre-right coalition of Christian democrats and liberals clearly weakened the initial position of the Environmental Committee in plenary. Annual emission reduction goals will be formulated from 2011 on. New cars on the streets of Europe will only in 2015 through technical measures abide by the threshold value of 125g CO2 per kilometre.'

This weakens it even further than the car manufacturers had agreed to in February- how crazy is that?!!
