Shell are going to invest in Erris, Co Mayo

It has been reported on mid-west radio this evening that Shell has announced that they will establish a long-term investment fund for economic, social and environmental projects in the Erris area
It says that it is in response to a recommendation made by Peter Cassells.
    On shells website http://www.shell.com/home/content/ie-en ... 70913.html
It says" they are pleased to confirm today that they are contributing to the development of Belmullet GAA Club as a one off investment in advance of the establishment of the long-term development fund in 2008.(said locally to be €150'000).

I posted this story earlier this evening on Indymedia but it was removed within an hour of me posting, below is a link to the reason "paula" gave for its removal.

Let's hope it'll give the local area a lift. Its interesting this appeared next to my thread about Ireland to be the 5th most popular location for international investment in 'Latest Discussions'

    Indymedia are numpties.

I wonder will the militant "locals" be boycotting Belmullet GAA Club?
Also why does the local GAA club always get the money is these sorts of things.

I`m not really au fait with the facts of the case. Can one of you give me the following figures?

    1. What is the find off Erris worth to Shell in terms of Profits?

    2. How much will they pay in tax?

    3. How much will they be donating to the local area?

Usually happens in places where there is no soccer club, no rugby club, no cricket club, no hockey club, no blowliing club, no tennis club, no tddlywinks club ... i.e vast swathes of rural Ireland.
