Three cheers for streetsweepers! This is one of the most important public services! Without them,our cities would look like garbage dumps,given the litter lout habits of all too many Irish, including those who should know better.

Hear, hear. Each morning and evening I walk my mutt along a nearby seafront (which has a Blue Flag beach). After a sunny Sunday, the place will be covered in beercans, used nappies, broken glass, etc. First thing the following morning 'Hoover' (as he's known locally), our Council employee, will arrive and work for hours until the place is absolutely spotless. Credit where credit is due!

Everyone should know better. People who litter are scum. There's no excuse for what they do. It's bad manners, a lack of civility and a dropping of standards by them. The people who clean up after those low life scum deserve all the credit they get.

A lot of government workers are paid an awful lot more than you for useless paper shuffling,so take pride in your work.
