Could someone please tell me: What percentage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is produced by human activity? (excluding breathing)
About 30%...Originally Posted by Odyessus

Methane has risen from 700ppb to 1700ppb over the same period, and methane is 23 times as potent a greenhouse gas as CO2 - so you can consider that equivalent to a rise from 16ppm to 39ppm in CO2 equivalent.
NO2 has risen from 270ppb to 317ppb - and NO2 is 296 times as potent, so you could consider that as a rise from 80ppm to 94ppm in CO2 equivalent.
Overall, then, from a pre-industrial base of 376ppm CO2-equivalent, atmospheric concentrations have risen to 510ppm CO2-equivalent. Again, that's about 26% of greenhouse gas rise we're assumed responsible for.
Figures from here.

it shows that sea off the atlantic temperatures along the prevailing wind towards Ireland appear to be unusually hot for June. This seems to explain the huge increase in rainfall we have experienced this summer (Hot water evaporates quicker and there have been a large number of cold fronts passing over Ireland during the 'Great Flood/Irish summer"
Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.
Those big red dots+5 oc over Greenland and the Tundra regions are pretty ominous.
Its only a chat, we ain't the world council.
In 2000 the Women's Institute in Britain gave Tony Blair the slow hand clap to demonstrate their contempt.
It was dignified, restrained and effective.Doesn't Bertie deserve the same scorn. No shouting, no abuse, no agression just a relentless slow clap whenever he speaks in public would be enough to end that man's presidential fantasy.

Time magazine this week is about New Orleans after Katrina. By the time it reached NO, it was a category 3. What caused all the devestation was the Army Corps of Engineers method and layout of levees.
It appears that they are just repeating the errors again.
Category 3 are really run-of-the-mill strength hurricanes. The article is very good at showing how not to protect lowlands.
Equally ominous is that while some/many people equate "many days of rain" with "cold summer", the reality is that its still above the average from a temperature perspective.Originally Posted by jpc
