She resigned over Dow's sponsorship of a "wrap" on the Stadium. She believes that ethically she cannot remain on the body while the Games accepts £7 million from a company she feels are responsible for deaths at Bhopal!

If true, she must be commended. Walking the talk re sustainability vs. the global corporate quest for growing revenues and profit.

Games watchdog member quits over Dow deal | Sport | The Guardian

LONDON, Jan 26 (Reuters) - A member of the body that oversees the sustainability of the London Olympics has resigned in protest at a sponsorship deal with Dow Chemical because of the American company's ties to the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster that killed thousands in India. The Games' organisers chose Dow to make the hundreds of plastic panels that will decorate the outside of the main stadium in a contract that has angered many Indians, including current and former Olympic athletes.

But the idea that a company which makes chemical/drugs is a suitable sponsor for the olympics is suspect to start with.

Your wits for a start. Bhopal is the chernobyl of India. A staggering case of corporate negligence and a horrific legacy for the poor unfortunate people of that area. It is one of the biggest disasters of recent human history.

Astral will need to be placed on suicide watch when he realises there is a misplaced apostrophe in "its" in his thread title.
