    An excellent idea!

SIPTU in the old new Anglo HQ... built by one shower of cnuts, for another shower of cnuts and finally occupied by another shower of cnuts. Irish architectural irony.

The building itself isn't particularly ugly. It's just rather run down. It's not the best position for such a tall structure, but it's there and has been for a while, it's rather iconic and could be greatly improved asthetically with a little effort.

I think its awful and is only matched in its awfulness by the new childrens hospital that is going to ruin the area around Berkley Road and Eccles street.
Never listen when they tell you that Man and the animals have a common interest, that the prosperity of the one is the prosperity of the others. It is all lies.

That thing is absolutely horrific. It's bottom half looks fine... then they appear to have landed a space ship on top of it!

At least it does not occupy the premier view down the river from O'Connell Bridge.

I’ve written about this before on this site and my opinion remains unchanged. I like Liberty Hall. As far as I am concerned it ought to be a protected structure (that is a listed building for those who insist on using the UK nomenclature). It is a classical column designed in, what was then, the contemporary architectural idiom. The theatre at the bottom is the base, the offices comprise the shaft, and the wavy roof is the capital. If I recall correctly, the current mirror windows replaced the original clear windows making it appear much bulkier and clumsier than originally conceived. So, surely, a 1960’s classical column beside Gandon’s neo-classical masterpiece is apt?

My understanding is that, regardless of all the waffling about sustainability &c, the real issue with Liberty Hall is that, despite its height, it is inefficient in terms of office space – the central core is very large when compared to the overall floor area per floor resulting in relatively little usable office space.

i like the building it should be restored to original look, its the best example of that type of building in ireland, its the only one we have, of course you could build a more newer efficient builder there doesn't mean you should.

There was a discussion here, or maybe I am mistaken, about the impact of it on the cityscape and it was concluded that it's impact was akin to that of a dose of the clap in a college dorm. It's everywhere and unpleasant.
