Why do people worry about things like this ?

If an extinction level event is going to happen.. it's going to happen.. we will be powerless in the face of nature.. we will be royally fupped..

Just give us a few months notice to get the party on...

Look on the bright side if they have their calculations wrong then we won't have to worry about the Department of Finance or the upcoming budget. Every cloud (or asteroid) has a silver lining.

We'll be grand though. It's also traveling on a slightly "upward" trajectory above the ecliptic plane.
So there was always very little chance that it would hit us.

But it is still a close call though. It's always a possibility that an asteroid such as this will lead to the end
    us humans.

I think we're okay for the next 100 years anyway.

Quite true, it is doubtful even our most powerful nuclear missiles would be able to change its course.

Theoretically we are still here because of our ancestors surviving similar in the past so in theory some of us would survive.
