Could be as simple as that and we could have a lovely mild winter.

    It just feels ominous.

Since the deep solar minimum began in 2008 followed by possibly the weakest solar sunspot cycle in 200 years we have had increasingly harsh winters. I predict this one to be another cold and snowy winter. The coldest Summer in decades isn't a good omen either. This one could start very early and last longer.

No need to worry. The country will go into meltdown on budget day and take care of any snow

Is this the double dip you've warned of?

His statement that "I expect December, January, and February to experience below average temperatures, the heaviest snowfalls occurring within the time frame of November to January across many parts of the UK" seems to indicate that he expects the heaviest snowfalls to occur in the winter.
Indeed he is predicting the heaviest snow of this winter to take place at the end of 2011 while the lowest temperatures will be in the first two months of 2012.

With a bit of luck and a bit of ice - poor Noonan and co might get stuck in Limerick and we might get no budget.

Wonder have we enough salt this year?

I predict this winter will be cold with some snow and ice in places at certain times.

Conditions will be described as 'treacherous' except for the odd cold breeze which will be called 'arctic'.

The usual quota of grannies will appear in the newspapers, wrapped up in shawls Peig Sayers-style and holding hot-water bottles, bleating about payments or something.

For the hard of thinking, a child with its arm in plaster will be plastered across the front page of the indo to illustrate the grave danger of slippy footpaths.

    In short the usual shyte.

Its winter; what the fk do you expect?

Just heard on radio this morning we have more salt in stock than ever. This ofcourse would indicate that as soon as we are poperly prepared for a cold winter we will probably have a mild one. How typical would that be?

The last three winters have not been usual.
