if theres one certainty in this its that that should happen. the ad agency must be laughing their arses off.

i bet this is just the start of ad campaigns from various other companies designed to "enrage" people , its making them a fortune in free exposure so its a sure bet someone else will try to cash in on it.

HOW they do it i dont know, but this has been way too sucessful to ignore.

you can apply that comment to 100% of ads. they are all paradoxical imo. I mean we have AIB prattling on about caring for the community FFS. if it's honesty in ads you're after this discussion should have started years ago.

Hunky Dorys have a history of crass advertising.

The ads remind me "Hunky Dorys = bad taste"

I've successfully managed to put all my kids off their shyte crisps.

Great ads - puts a smile on the face of many a man. Just don't stare too long if you're with your woman.

You have to hand it to Hunky Dorys for landing all that 'free' publicity - even though the ad campaign cost around €500k.

But like with some of their crisps, they could find a rather nasty after-taste.

The use of the words 'Proud sponsors of Irish Rugby' could land them in trouble with the Advertising Standards Authority as well as the IRFU's lawyers.

'Irish Rugby' is a registered trade name of the IRFU.

Irish Rugby : IRFU Seeks Withdrawal Of Advertising Campaign

Padraig Power, the IRFU's Commercial and Marketing Director, stated: "This advertising campaign is in very bad taste and one which the IRFU would not want to be associated with in any way.

"Firstly, its blatant exploitation of women is tasteless and base, and quite simply unacceptable. Irish rugby has a strong family focus and would not tolerate any connection with such an approach.

"Secondly, the claim that the product is a ‘Proud Sponsor of Irish Rugby’ implies that the company is a significant sponsor of the game in this country, through the IRFU. This is absolutely untrue and a cynical ploy in an attempt to capitalise on the popularity of the game.

"By doing so, it has the potential to undermine the legitimate claims of the many genuine sponsors and supporters of Irish rugby whose investment has been a key element in the success of rugby at grassroots level throughout the country, and of our provincial and national squads.

"In addition to pursuing the immediate withdrawal of the campaign through legal means, we are also writing to the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland bringing to their attention the misleading claims.

"We would hope that the management of Largo Foods would withdraw the campaign immediately."

'Irish rugby has a strong family focus and would not tolerate any connection with such an approach.'
    Hollow words indeed.
Sponsorship by alcohol companies, when alcohol is linked to widescale family breakdown, doesn't seem to present a dilemma to the 'family-focussed' IRFU.

Thus not alone can a small child aspire to the wiles of heavily salted snacks

The Indo is doing it, so P.ie should have a thread too:

    Advertising's bottom line. . . - Lifestyle, Frontpage - Independent.ie

On questioning my small companion about the effect of the poster, she
affirmed that she didn't really feel the need for a snack or a drink, nor did I,
thus it would appear that the ads are aimed at guys who might not get
that they are about crisps and not having sex with some fantasy girlie
whose tits are all hanging out of her geansaí
    .

Good luck with the campaign, am off to buy a package of Taytos.
    In Cork too!

Absolutely right. Pushing Heineken with sports stars is at least as bad as pushing crisps with bikini clad models.
