Could be onto something there. Apparently a lot of men need to see pictures of hot women and go "phwoar!" on a regular basis to feel like men.
Yes indeed - the evidence is all over this thread. But I guess it's harmless enough that they want to assure themselves of their own heterosexuality. Let the baby have its bottle....

I guess they're lucky that most women can affirm their femininity without kicking them in the nuts for their chauvinism.
No matter what a man's girlfriend/wife is like, he is still admiring other women, just something a bit different. That's how we're made - live with it!

I don't see the problem with pictures of beautiful women up on billboards. It cheers us up. Maybe a poster of the latest shoe will cheer up the women of Ireland

Is what is deemed ARTY acceptable while the non-arty is not?

I suppose you have to look at the type of person who works in the marketing departments in this companies. Marketing is for those who feel they have some sort of artistic talent, but all previous evidence suggest that not only do they have zero imagination, they are usually very dull people. Very rarely is an advertisement anything other than complete horsesh1t and boring as well. Trying to introduce sex into a product like crisps is very telling as the talentless nature of those who dreamt up the ads, crisps are probably the most unsexy thing you can eat, they stink, they leaves crumbs everywhere, they leave salt and oil on your fingers and the bags make the most annoying sound. I'd find more sexiness in kippers to be honest.

The lads would be up in arms, most 'lads' that buy the juvenile magazines like 'Nuts' are more prudish than Mary Whitehouse if the offending ad or article shows men in half dress or perhaps with a homosexual slant. The word we used back on the ranch is 'braindead hyprocrite'. Considering how many men are closed homosexuals, but due to their family circumstances and how they were raised along with cultural attitudes, they will gladly go through life denying who they are like the good Irish Catholics that they are. They most certainly dont want to see anything to remind them that they are not 'normal' as according to their peers.

I have to agree, the male form is terrible.
If I could mass-sterilise the planet, I would. Seriously.

It is chauvinistic to find a woman I don't know sexy?

You are making it sound as if there are crowds gathering around this things. They're not. Some people like these posters, some people don't. Most people couldn't give a crap one way or the other.
You don't have to like these (I don't - I think they're sh!t) to support Largo's right to use them. They're just pictures FFS, and tame ones at that.

Hahahahaha nobody was suggesting that people in relationships couldn't and don't look at and touch other people. In fact, I think it's a great idea. I live with it every day and believe that open relationships are a good thing and should be tried by more people. However, I resent your old fashioned idea that men somehow look at women more than women look at men (or other women).

Fortunately, that whole issue is irrelevant! Open relationships and the appreciation of women you see every day is completely different to large tasteless images of practically naked women in unmissable locations all over the country. You can look at pics of naked women if you want to - I just would prefer not to have such tasteless rubbish pushed on me as I walk to and from work every day. Buy a sexy mag, google "naked girls" or try to persuade some poor women to come home with you, but don't make me have to look at it if I haven't chosen to.

Sex is a private affair. One can make it public if one wishes to (but one must generally ask the consent of those who would be exposed to it). Join a swingers club if you need your sex public.

Indeed. I'll be honest. I find the posters to be an eye sore, but I can't see any reason why they shouldn't be allowed. You would see posters like this in any country in Europe.

Do you want this type of ad banned or do you just want the right to complain about it?
