MOTORISTS who want to 'go green' by buying an electric car will have to pay €1,200 a year to rent the battery.
French motoring giant Renault admitted yesterday that the battery would not be included in the price of four electric vehicles (EVs) which will go on sale from next year.

So the €5k "grant" only covers the battery lease for 4 years. In a round about way it's more a government subsidy to Reanult than a grant to the customer.

have they said how limited these vehicles will be in hilly areas. you'll be charging them more than you'll be driving them.
Who will pay the extra tax if car purchase taxation is abolished and subsidised instead?

Mad money altogether! If we're talking about urban commuting how about a grant towards a decent electric bike/scooter? You'd have a big take up from the likes of students eg.
