There's lots of evidence to support the claim that coursers conserve the hare. Put simply in the North of this island where coursing is illegal the hare population has been decimated.. While here in the South where the hare is regularly terrorised by coursers the species is thriving...

When coursing was legal in the North, hares were also abundant... It doesn't take a genius to come to the most logical conclusion...

Why don't they get off their arses and do it so? In the north once coursing was banned hare populations were decimated.... The reality is that these armchair welfare activists who campaign for these "immoral" acts to be banned will never bother getting off their hole to fill the conservation vacuum that will result. They have no interest in the hares survival, and all they can be bothered about doing is mouthing off at things that make them a bit queasy..

The coursers do however, have a vested interest in the hares survival, and actively make the wild existence of such animals much more pleasant as a result of habitat conservation and feeding when times are tough... It's give and take scenario, and both have developed a mutual dependence on one another in modern ireland... Without coursing it's bye bye hare and vice versa...
The one thing I know is I can't know anything else...

These people are terrorists and extremists.....the very idea that a warped section of society have more time for animals than humans can only lead to depravity in the long run, is it not natural that these people at some stage in the future will look for animals as life partners?
There is no point twisting facts to suit your movement, of course you will say it is mother earth you care about but your actions in reagards to coursing tell a very different story, ther Irish WILL become extinct without coursing, no ifs or buts!
I read an interesting article this morning, it kind of vindicated my views on the animal rights terrorists.......

[QUOTE]A TOP criminal profiler has told how the painter who kidnapped and murdered widow Ann Corcoran returned to her West Cork home twice to feed her dogs because he identified more with animals than humans.
The 60-year-old was abducted, beaten and left to die in the rubbish-strewn home of her killer Oliver Hayes in January 2009 so he could rifle €3,000 from her bank accounts to go on an Austrian holiday.

The TV3 documentary, 24 Hours to Kill, reveals how Hayes showed little remorse about torturing and killing the Kilbrittain widow but burst into tears when questioned about her dogs by police.

Tomy you may not believe this but I class animal rights terrorists in the same groups as coursers and hunters.....voilence of any sort is abhorrent. Graduation theory etc etc.

Is this just an off the cuff remark without any thought, for I don't see the relevance of it.

This is the quintessential response from somebody who has there mind made up, and their prejudices firmly anchored with regard to rural people and fieldsports.
The problem for all society is that so many exist with this narrow vision of the world. They are unwilling to open their eyes so as to allow their preconceptions dispell.
Brendan McGahan, ex TD, who I never heard of, is not so fortunate to have you as a supporter if you are associating him with believing fieldsports people are rednecks, a very ugly term I might add, similar to calling inner city people knackers. I hope he is not in a rural constituency or indeed any constituency as if this was to be his thinking right minded people would have little to do with him.
