Democracy should be put on hold for a while.

According to the green guru/eugenicist James Lovelock "we need a more authoritative world" and "democracy should be put on hold for a while"..

We need a more authoritative world. We've become a sort of cheeky, egalitarian world where everyone can have their say. It's all very well, but there are certain circumstances – a war is a typical example – where you can't do that. You've got to have a few people with authority who you trust who are running it. And they should be very accountable too, of course.

But it can't happen in a modern democracy. This is one of the problems. What's the alternative to democracy? There isn't one. But even the best democracies agree that when a major war approaches, democracy must be put on hold for the time being. I have a feeling that climate change may be an issue as severe as a war. It may be necessary to put democracy on hold for a while.

Well you know you're winning the argument when you've got to suggest an end to democracy.

An eugenicist who would use global warming as an excuse to promote his aims. I don't know where to start ... I hope that he was misquoted or something like that. If not then I hope that others who are promoting the issues around climate change repudiate this guy if he is in any way representative of the environmental movement.

The Greens really are acting like the jilted nerd from school, aren't they?

    "Waaaaaa, nobody's listening to me."

Next they'll be screaming "respect my authoritah"

I'd tend to agree that Democracy (as practised in the western world) doesn't work, but it's the best we've managed to come up with thus far and any suggestion it should be suspended over climate change is completely mental.

I'd only agree to a dictatorship if I get to be the dictator.

The Irish government is leading the way on this. No by-elections and state revenues handed over to bankers.
