I'm not infallible, but I think the 1998 peaks were in the summer months, not January.

In extremely sad news for SAT January was also a record month for ocean temperatures

Edit: in relation to the points above this is the warmest January ever in the UAH dataset.

Someone else who has trouble reading his own graph. You seem to have missed mid 2009 Plus the satellite record you link to is for ocean surface temperatures only. It tells you very little about the heat content of the oceans which is why the Argo data is so important as it provides a 3 dimensional temperature profile of the oceans.

It seems there are statistics, damned statistics and AGW 'facts'.

That's odd. I don't remember having a January in the middle of 2009. They're usually at start of the year. Let me guess, calendar hoax?

The data is here for those who want it. http://vortex.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/t2lt/uahncdc.lt

The Jan 1998 global temperature was less than that of Jan 2010.

Looks like we need to gather a list of those twits who were wittering on about global cooling and gather their cooling quotes together in one handy document, so that people can look at the facts and their statements and make their own minds up.

The funniest thing is that this fact comes to us from a genuine skeptic. I mean by genuine skeptic someone who says the IPCC may not be right, as distinct from the nutbars on here who imagine that they know it's all a dastardly socialist hoax.
This is very bad news. Anything that confirms the reality of global warming is.

I posted a challenge numerous times in 2009 to the sceptics to do a month my month track of 2010 temperatures. I made a prediction that 2010 would be in the top 2 or 3 years on record, potentially even being the hottest year on record.

Surprisingly, not one of the "sKeptics" agreed to take up my challenge by making a prediction of their own, despite their unwavering conviction that global warming had stopped or gone into reverse

You seem to be having a little trouble with your reading comprehension. Sharper didn't say it was a record Jan he said it was a record month for ocean temperatures. If you still don't understand the difference perhaps a very patient friend could explain it to you.
