Climate activists condemn Copenhagen police tactics

Climate change groups have criticised Danish police for using heavy-handed tactics after they detained 968 people at a rally near the Copenhagen summit.

Mel Evans from Climate Justice Action told the BBC protesters were held for hours in freezing conditions without medical attention, water or toilets.

Not sure what else the Police could have done. They decided to isolate the bloc and detain the members. They're unlikely to have portapotties at every single street corner. Compared to what we saw in UK and Italy it seems much better organised.

I thought global warming was all a government conspiracy to raise taxes?

Why would they crack down on environmental protestors engaging in completely non violent protests if the governments of the world are faking Anthropogenic global warming?
Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.

If you take the Danish police at their word (And there's no reason not to)
In a statement, Copenhagen police said a large group of protesters had organised themselves in a so-called "black bloc", in which they put on masks - an illegal action at a demonstration in Denmark. Officers then decided to "seal off" the group from the march.
So after the group broke the initial law, it would seem like the police assumed this was the prelude to an organised, more serious illegal action and detained them. I think they were better doing this than waiting that action to occur and allowing what's happened in previous cities (Mass damage to property, assaults by the extreme protesters on the police, and police on the peaceful protesters etc).

I have been on protests like that in the past, the Black Bloc are mostly anarchists who don't want to be identified by the intelligence agencies that now videotape all of the protests.

They had a mission, probably to blockade a building or a road for a few hours, they don't attack the police but are prepared to push their way through police barriers. In my direct experience, anyone who throws anything at the riot police is almost always an agent provocateur or a drunk local scumbag.

The risk of violence is very low, the risk of harm is much higher when the police adopt aggressive policing practices, where people can be killed (as we saw in london when the cop pushed the innocent bystander, or greece and italy where the cops shoot to kill on occasion)

So the conspiracy extends to the protesters who are deliberately getting themselves arrested by the police who are also arresting and beating and mistreating them all to make for a good story in the press that governments are actually not behind global warming science?
