Jan, Feb 2009 were the 10th hottest on record. Cooling, how are you?

    Enjoying the "global cooling" yet?

How about the extent of older, and thus thicker, ice in the north pole?

You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature for October 2009 was the sixth warmest on record, with an anomaly of 0.57°C (1.03°F) above the 20th century average of 14.0°C (57.1°F).

Wow, it's almost as if the global warming deniers are telling lies, isn't it.

They keep telling us how much cooler it's getting, but all those pesky thermometers keep telling us it's in the top ten hottest ever. Who's lying? The people or the thermometers, I wonder?

the odds of the 10 hottest years on record all happening since 1998 by pure chance have been calculated at something like 10000 to one.

The odds of a global warming denier coming on here to say "The planet has been cooling since 1998" are 1-1,
Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.

Or to claim that we can ignore all those temperature readings because a scientist involved in climate change research once didn't use part of a dataset, so everything that suggests warming is necessarily and irrefutably untrue forever.

This is great news for Africa. There is now growing evidence that the outskirts of the Sahara is being reclaimed due to higher levels of moisture in the air. Hopefully droughts will not be commonplace in some of these regions.

If Ice is greatly expanded water and more than 3/4 of an ice berg is under water - then how can sea levels rise if an ice berg melts? WOuld there not be lower sea levels if this expanded (water) ice melts?

Coincidentally the Pat Kenny show mentioned something about heavy snow falls being forecast for next January!

If the entire Arctic sea-ice melts, it won't make any difference to sea levels, because, yes, ice is in equilibrium with water. However, Greenland and the Antarctic are ice caps on land, so if they melt, they add to the sea-level.

So far, though, what we've had has been thermal expansion of the oceans - warmer water is less dense.
