Despite the Al-Gore-Kool-Aid-drinkers’ best efforts to suppress it, the Climategate scandal continues to blossom and flourish. (Or should that be putresce and pullulate?)

I think my favourite comic detail this week just has to be the one about the amazing not-so-fast-shrinking glaciers. As you’ll know if you’ve been reading reports like this scare stories about glaciers retreating “faster than predicted” are a central plank of the IPCC’s case that we should carbon-tax ourselves back to the Dark Ages NOW. According to the IPCC, the Himalayan glaciers could be gone by 2035.

Or should that be 2350? Yep it seems those scientific experts who make the IPCC’s reports so famously reliable and trustworthy have a bad case of numerical dyslexia. The mistake was spotted by a Canadian academic......

One of the claims in this hacked CRU email saga goes something like “Well, the scientists acted like jerks, but that doesn’t affect the results, it’s still warming.”

I got intrigued by one of the hacked CRU emails, from the Phil Jones and Kevin Trenberth to Professor Wibjorn Karlen. In it, Professor Karlen asked some very pointed questions about the CRU and IPCC results. He got incomplete, incorrect and very misleading answers. Here’s the story, complete with pictures. I have labeled the text to make it clear who is speaking, including my comments.

Another poster is crying because there are only 5 posters now preaching this religion.

I doubt whether there are 5 people in the world who actually believe this. Senator Kerry is pushing this in the Senate. He surely does not believe it. I drive by his house on Beacon Hill in Boston. Not only is it in Beacon Hill but it is in Louisberg Square. He owns a total of 5 mansions. He owns 5 SUV(His wife drives a very modest pt cruiser in fairness). He owns a gulfstream jet. He owns a huge yacht called The Scaramouch. He no more cares about his carbon footprint than I do.

Now one can get a cab to Logan and hop on a plane to Copenhagen very easy. Or of course he could fly his own jet. Or he could stay at home.

I have not bothered my ass to check.

They realise the little people are trained to take it. That is why the private jets are so numerous they have to park them as far away as Swedan and limos had to be brought for hundreds of miles.

I have zero sympathy for anyone that swallows this mularky

There is the issue of the science, which I had previously taken as given; but many people’s faith is being tested. We are often told that the science is settled. I suppose that is what the Inquisition said to Galileo. If so, why are we spending millions of pounds on research? The science is far from settled. – Lord Turnbull Dec 8th 2009
