    Yes! And here's why!!!!!!!!!!

You only have to try and enter into a debate with certain so called environmentalists (a real environmentalist will look to all aspects of scientific research to inform themselves unlike most Green party supporters that you see on this site) to see how they have a quasi- religious belief in man made climate change. They will totally ignore any scientifically researched data that shows otherwise!

This gent Dr Vincent Gray, says it rather well

    THE ENVIRONMENTALIST CREED

    THE ENVIRONMENT
Environmentalism is an anti-human, anti-science-and-technology religion which has gripped the world. It worships a nebulous undefined indefinable entity called The Environment which has some of the characteristics of the Christian Heaven, is an ideal place, existing somewhere on the earth, but without humans. It is a jealous God, demanding ever increasing sacrifices to satisfy its demands.

HUMANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EARTH
The Christian religion considers that God is responsible for the earth. In Genesis, (Verse 28), humans merely have “dominion” over "every living thing". The Environmentalists have now taken over full responsibility from God and we not only have "dominion" we are fully responsible. By contrast, Science, from evolutionary theory, has shown that all organisms struggle to survive, with varying success, but each is responsible for its own welfare.

    HUMANS ARE DESTROYING THE EARTH
The essential dogma of Environmentalism is the belief that humans are destroying the earth, or, as they prefer it, the planet.. Evolution is invariably harmful, and is exclusively conducted by humans. It must be prevented at whatever cost.

    ECOSYSTEMS
“The environment” is envisaged as one or more “ecosystems”, patterned on the Garden of Eden, unchanging, static, “balanced” associations of organisms which are “fragile”, and “threatened” by evolution, which is wielded exclusively by humans, whose every activity “damages” this idyllic paradise. Evolution has to be stopped, or even reversed.

    ENDANGERED SPECIES
The necessary and universal mechanism of evolution, the extinction of organisms which can no longer survive, to be replaced by the newcomers, is seen as evil. “Endangered species” have to be preserved at all costs, and the newly evolving ones exterminated as pests.

No “endangered species” has ever become extinct, so the danger does not actually exist.

    BIODIVERSITY
Environmentalists, having canonised species, promote the doctrine that there is a moral quality in species diversity. This usually means organisms of a similar, or greater size than humans. Biodiversity never claims to include all organisms. Variety in organisms is influenced by many factors, notably climate. Tropical forests have more diverse plants and animals than a temperate-zone forest, but that does not make them morally superior.

    SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is the reverse of evolution. It is a bedfellow with conservatism and conservation. People dislike change, so we must stop it. King Canute learned that he could not stop the waves, but today we must continually try to do so.

Humans, like other creatures, survive by modifying the world in our favour. There is therefore something to be said for maintainability, such as measures to keep fish stocks at a reasonable level, or to preserve the fertility of soil, but retainability, keeping things the same for its own sake, is futile. Evolution happens whatever you try to do to stop it. Sustainable development is an oxymoron, a contradiction.

    FUTURE GENERATIONS
Since we are “damaging” “the environment” we must stop doing it, and maintain a static world for future generations. The world will evolve whether we like it or not. Future generations will face challenges and problems which we cannot comprehend. They will not thank us for making plans which may turn out to be harmful. It is enough to try and cope with our own problems, with provision for only a short time ahead, sufficient for our very limited insight into what the future may hold.

    THE PRECAUTIONARY PRINCIPLE
The scientific discipline of Risk Analysis assesses precautions to be taken against unexpected hazards according to the degree of risk and the cost of the precautions.

The Precautionary Principle does the reverse. The greatest precautions and the greatest costs are to be taken when the risk is small or even zero. All risks are exaggerated and the highest cost and greatest inconvenience are always chosen. .

    MAXIMUM INCONVENIENCE
The Environment demands that everything we do must be as inconvenient as possible. The most convenient form of transport is cars, so they must be restricted and we must be made to travel by public transport, by bicycles, walking, or perhaps by bringing back the horses.

Riding bicycles is much more dangerous than driving cars, but we must sacrifice some human lives to the Environment God.

Plastic bags and other plastic objects are too convenient and too cheap. We must replace them with something that costs more.

    ECONOMY INSTEAD OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Instead of building new power stations, better roads, or water treatment plant, we must make do with the out-of-date and poorly-maintained by economising on everything.

    DEPLETED RESOURCES
“Resources” are finite, so we are running out of oil, water, food, minerals energy. History shows that there is only a shortage of prosperity and ingenuity.

    TECHNOLOGY MUST BE STOPPED
Developments in technology are always harmful and dangerous, and must be prevented. This applies particularly to Genetic Modification and Nuclear Power..

    TOXICOLOGY REDEFINED
All chemicals are “toxic”. Since the entire universe, including our own bodies, consist of chemicals, everything is hostile. Scientific toxicology tells us that toxicity is a matter of dose. Most chemicals are either harmless or beneficial in small quantities. Their “toxicity” must be exaggerated even when they are harmless..

    RADIOACTIVITY INVARIABLY HARMFUL
There are three kinds of radiation, alpha, which is a helium nucleus, beta which is an electron, and gamma which is short wave form of electromagnetic radiation, such as radio or light.

Alpha, being heavy particles, is easily absorbed even by air, so presents no hazard unless swallowed. Beta is an electron and similarly without hazard externally. Gamma rays are very penetrating, but only above a certain level. Our surroundings give off radiation to which our bodies are probably immune, and slight increases are harmless. Radioactive substances with a long half-life, such as uranium (4 1⁄2 billion years, particularly when “depleted”) and plutonium (20,000. years but beta) are harmless, unless swallowed.

    REVERSE ECONOMICS
Instead of choosing the cheapest alternative of an action, environmentalists insist on the most expensive, because the Environment requires it. This may take the form of protracted legal cost for permission, or the use of unnecessarily expensive technology.

Thus vehicles must burn biofuels which raise the price of food and increase poverty. An extreme example is the use of hydrogen in vehicles. This is expensive, inconvenient and dangerous, so we must do it.

Reverse economics is now being applied internationally. The disasters caused by environmentalism such as the high cost of energy and food, are being tackled by the least effective method, the printing of money. This is the policy which led to the downfall of the German Weimar Republic, and is the cause of the current disaster in Zimbabwe.

    UNIVERSAL SPIN
The advertising industry has softened up the public to accept the most outrageous swindles by endless repetition, the use of phony logic and the endorsement by celebrities. Science is in decline and is being taken over by the pseudoscience of the environment. It has thus become possible to put over on the public the most outrageous spin ever. They have selected, distorted and fabricated scientific results to justify the environmentalist creed with huge success. Everything can be "linked" with disaster whatever the probability.

They get repeated free advertising in nearly all media and "debate" no longer exists. Every event is referred to environmentalist priests for comment. Other comments are not welcome. Some people make a lot of money out of it.

yes, Environmentalism is 'the new religion' along with 'Darwinism' and Atheism.

Where as all you 'free thinker' alex jones truth movement conspiracy types are the only people who really know the truth and if we don't agree with you, there's something wrong with us.
Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.

I'm sorry I wasted literally minutes of my short time on this planet reading that drivel which can be summed up in one sentance ie Fup the planet, other species and future generations - all that matters is my own selfish desires = What a crock of sh*t

Probably so you can get into environmentalist heaven after you die.

I take it your havin a larf

PS: As can be seen from the contribution to this thread the Irish are still one of the least environmentally aware nations in the EU - we need as many Irish Ecologists etc. as we can get!!

Part of the problem may be that too many environmentalists have a somewhat uneasy relationship with sound, mainstream science. Whatever damage we have done to the environment can only be properly defined by a scientific approach, and the solutions will by, definition, need to be identified using methodologies based on scientific knowledge and implemented through good scientific process.
