Lisbon ups the ante on climate feargasm and we will pay through the hilt for it.

The authorities have made it a taboo subject. Neither yes or no sides bring it up all that often. But it is there...

you're misunderstanding the story. the researchers are refusing to give it to a blogger and a climate sceptic right-wing american blogger (biog below) has suckerd people in with a bull story.

the data exists - they just don't want to give it to some sh1thead.

Given that McIntyre’s wish for access to the data will take time to be granted, this dispute will likely continue for some time. He’s especially aggrieved by the fact that hurricane expert Peter Webster at Georgia Tech University was recently provided with data that had been refused to him. McIntyre’s point here is that he should be treated as a legitimate academic given his background and publication record.

But Webster points out that he was allowed access because of the nature of his request, which was very specific and will result in a joint publication with Phil Jones.
Climate Feedback: McIntyre versus Jones: climate data row escalates

Patrick J. Michaels (±1942- ), also known as Pat Michaels, is a global warming skeptic who argues that global warming models are fatally flawed and, in any event, we should take no action because new technologies will soon replace those that emit greenhouse gases.

Michaels is Editor of the World Climate Report, a blog published by New Hope Environmental Services, "an advocacy science consulting firm"[1] he founded and runs. In an affidavit in a Vermont court case, Michaels described the "mission" of the firm as being to "publicize findings on climate change and scientific and social perspectives that may not otherwise appear in the popular literature or media. This entails both response research and public commentary."[2] In effect, New Hope Environmental Services is a PR firm.

Michaels' firm does not disclose who its clients are, but leaked documents have revealed that several were power utilities which operate coal power stations. On a 2007 academic CV, Michaels disclosed that prior to creating his firm he had received funding from the Edison Electric Institute and the Western Fuels Association. He has also been a frequent speaker with leading coal and energy companies as well as coal and other industry lobby groups.[3]

Michaels is also associated with a number of think tanks and advocacy groups which dispute global warming. He is a Visiting Scientist with the George C. Marshall Institute, a Senior Fellow in Environmental Studies with the Cato Institute[4] and a member of the Advisory Board of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow.[5]

You don't see geneticists saying 'We've mapped the genome, but you're not allowed to see it.'
Proper scientists make their research and evidence available to ALL, so that it may be critiqued, peer-reviewed, and examined for errors in the public domain.

they make their data available to proper scientists to peer-review as pointed out in the article.

also the data is from mulit-national sources so you have no idea of the nature of the confidentiality agreements.

Except they don't, as a scientist was refused the data.
Furthermore, when I requested the human genome research I got it, and I'm not a geneticist. They were proud of their work and had nothing to hide.
What's confidential about temperature data? How is the temperature of New York in the Fifties or Ulan Baator in the Forties confidential and secret?
It's standard practice in science and medicine to make research available to all once it is completed and conclusions reached, so that it can be verified.
Any deviation from that longstanding tradition is utterly suspect.

McIntyre is, according to the Wall Street Journal, a "semiretired Toronto minerals consultant" who has spent "two years and about $5,000 of his own money trying to double-check the influential graphic" known as the "hockey stick" that illustrates a reconstruction of average surface temperatures in the Northern hemisphere, created by University of Virginia climatologist Michael Mann. He does not have an advanced degree and has published two articles in the journal Energy and Environment, which has become a venue for skeptics and is not carried in the ISI listing of peer-reviewed journals.[3]

    i wouldn't consider him suitable for peer-review.

and do you stand by the lie in the OP about the data disappearing?

Absolutely nothing conspiratorial at all about your position.... except for, well everything
When will people wake up and realise that the whole thing is a gigantic lie. It all about finding new ways to control humanity.
It is extremely ironic that you believe that global warming is a hoax by governments to try and control people, that governments are deliberately fixing the evidence to make it look as though climate change is a bigger problem than it really is.

Firstly, the IPCC had to significantly dilute its language and conclusions in it's reports due to government interference. Most of the most powerful governments in the world were extremely slow to accept the urgency of action, and they are extremely reluctant to take any action to reduce our carbon emissions.

The evidence that governments are desperately trying to impose taxes on us simply isn't there. To accomplish something, you need means, opportunity and motive. Governments do have means and opportunity, but no motive. ('to control us' is just paranoid drivle)

On the other hand, you are accepting the position of the climate change deniers, Backed by the big polluting industries, resistant to change, who have clearly got motivation to reduce regulations and to be permitted to continue polluting as they have been doing.

You believe the 'arguments' released by the PR departments of these companies and 'think tanks' bought and paid for as lobbiests. You believe propaganda films like "the great global warming swindle". A film that totally discredited due to appalling intellectual dishonesty, produced by Martin Durkin, A shameless shill for big business
    YouTube - greenman3610's Channel

Yeah, the governments of the world are all conspiring with millions of independent scientists to fake climate change, and all because they hate incandescent lightbulbs and want us to take public transport and put more insulation in our homes. So they can 'increase taxes' (Which they could already do anyway, there is absolutely no need to invent climate change just to increase taxes, they could just increase taxes easy)

It's a good thing we have all those altruistic corporations donating time and money through their PR departments to set us straight about the lies from the government. (just like the tobacco company so successfully countered government lies that smoking causes cancer)

It's really really funny that people can be so blind to the lunacy of their own beliefs.
