    Just one example

silent, invisible, predictable, renewable energy - tidal technology - openhydro

    Useful link

    Wave Energy

    Another Irish Company

    Wavebob - Home

An energy policy that was openly supportive of renewable energy would create an industry employing tens of thousands and earning export billions

When does the talk stop and the action begin

I doubt whether this car was carbon neutral, but it shows the how the powers that be in the motor and oil industries oppose such developments.

Electric cars would be charged off the grid, as more renewables come on stream, the more environmentally friendly the cars will be. In addition close to 100% of the energy stored in the batteries goes directly to the motors turning the wheels, while the in internal combustion engine, only around 22% the enery released by the fuel goes directly to the wheel.

My problem is that I have yet to see evidence of these cars being available in large quantities anytime soon.

Although if our energy policy were to fully embrace a fully engineered renewable grid, there would then possibly be a large enough domestic market for a possible Irish electric car manufacturer ?

In the seventies, Ireland discovered FDI, at first we used low labour costs to attract it, then we used tax incentives and finally our well educated workforce.

    Other countries watched and copied.

Our renewable resources are the basis for next stimulus, and they are much more difficult to copy.

China is long way away, we could have Europe shared between ourselves and Scotland.

Ask the Green party, especially their illustrious leader, John Gormless.

The Chevrolet Volt (Chevy Volt | Electric Car - Future Cars | Chevrolet) is the other hybrid plug-in that is being rushed to the market.

The annoying thing is that European car makers are missing the boat on this.

I suspect that as carbon taxes are rolled out across Europe, this will change.

But the opportunity for Ireland is Now

We do not have politicians with the foresight to engage in a cohesive energy policy

Watch us miss the boat and spend a fortune importing nuclear power.
