Indeed, but I was simply pointing out your own hypocrisy, I made no judgement as to whether it was a right or wrong move. Shinners on here were forever chastising labour for recruiting certain candidates, until O'Leary came along.

I doubt there's much they can do. If someone says they don't want to put in the time anymore you can hardly force them to stay on the council. Unless you can mind read you can't dispute whether the person is being genuine. Didn't Fine Gael's Anne Marie Martin decide to pack it all in a while ago in the middle of her term?

I'd like to point out I've never heard of the councillor and have no idea if he's resigning, let alone what any reason for such may be.

not sure resigning is the term I'd use Dermot. Seems his time is up and the VP must be given her position. Shaymus is said to be very unhappy as he was working hard locally. The same thing happened here when SF told the poll topping sitting councillor to 'retire' and give it to Donnelly , who actually went on to lose it. It seems to be a clic that runs Dublin. No wonder people are fed up with politicians if they are voting for one person only to end up with someone else.

So Mary Lou is so afraid she cannot get elected she is now taking the seat off sitting Sinn Fein Councillor Eamonn McGratten in Dublin Central. She has gotten somebody else to win a seat so she can now take it. Totally undemocratic but hey, thats Sinn fein.

First of all Councillor Seamus McGrattan is not retiring. Secondly you're little more than a troll for the Socialist Party; a troll who doesn't even live in the constituency. Thirdly you wanna talk about democracy what about your former comrade Joan Collins in Crumlin?

For us to be even talking about the possibility that a three time Taoiseach might even lose his seat is a "shock" in itself.

No chance in hell he would top poll and I stand over my prediction that if Mary Fitz runs he may lose his seat, if she is forced to run as and Indo, he will lose and DC will be FF free.

It's a likely prospect that if he ran again he'd fail. Ahern though will be retiring mainly to save his nice fat pension. You just need to look at the fact that he doesn't even attend the Dail any more and leaves Mr 939 to do the clinics. People in Drumcondra are sick to the teeth of him. Fitz is one of the very few honourable FFer's around. She have just as good a shot at the seat if she went Indo.
