For anyone who missed this week's programme, well you did not miss much. Nothing new, focused on all the names anyone on this site could have picked out. Only thing of interest was discussion in relation to Meath West where the apparant disarry in FG in the 2nd candidate selection was discussed. A convention is planned for the begining of December apparantly.
Kevin Rafter was this week's pundit. His strong prediction was Meath West: 2FF, 1FG and East: 1FF, 1FG, 1 Lab.
There is also a programme email you can contact constituency@rte.ie. I am going to send an email to berate them at the poor quality of the programme and I will refer to the threads here to show what people on this site who have been listening have got to say.
I think the program is okay. Don't see where you're coming from. What is wrong with it?Originally Posted by kerrynorth

"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)
The majority cannot therefore be the elite.
I have to agree with whats been said on all the threads about this show. Its an absolute dogs dinner, with no concrete conclusions and a lot of fluff and guff.
Its a classic RTE filler piece

Have to disagree with you on that. Listening to the Cork City one, it struck me that unless you were a political nerd (like all of us here) you wouldn't have had a clue in the world what was being said.Originally Posted by hiding behind a poster
The show seems to work on the assumption that the listener has a basic knowledge of the constituency - ie. layout, number of seats, etc - and thats just not the case

I don't accept the argument that the programme has to set out the constituency as if it needed to be explained to somebody who just landed from Mars! The programme goes out at 6pm on a Saturday on Radio 1 for Christ's sake, its not as if they are expecting Sky Sports viewers to tune in. The programme is aired at this time precisely because it is a programme of a narrow niche interest, for the likes of us election junkies, they know such a programme is only going to get a small niche audience.Originally Posted by FutureTaoiseach
I feel it is poor precisely because the producers feel the need to take up so much of a 20+ minute programme just to set the scene, they come with a range of analysts (?) who are so poor its unbelievable, no imagination, almost always proposing a no change situation. Throw any 2 or 3 of us on this site on the programme and we could provide a far better researched analysis!
