Whats the most Irish elections someone has stood in and never ever won a seat?

When Ted Tynan was elected recently to Cork Corporation, it was at least his tenth attempt, between Dail and local elections, to be elected.

Another long time unsuccessful candidate was Portlaoise based Joe McCormack who has stood in at least 13 local or Dail elections with at least one sucess in 1999s election to Portlaoise Town Council.

    Seamus Rodgers elections ireland profile
Has stood at least 18 times but did get elected to Donegal Co Council in 1991

But these candidates did eventually get elected to something.

Not counting the likes of Callanan of the CSP, Barbara Hyland, William Abbey of the Holy Cross Fitzsimons and others who stood in numerous Constituencies at the same election.......

Whats the most elections someone has stood in here and never ever won a seat be it Dail, Seanad, Council, Údarás or Town Council ?

I suspect it may be Jim Tallon who has stood in at least 13 different elections with little success.

Not that everyone stands in elections to be elected of course

Ted Tynan was previously elected to Cork City Council a whole 30 years ago. He then stood down mid-term.

30 years between election victories must be some kind of record.

Christy Burke has stood in 8 General elections and 1 bye-election and lost out on every occasion.

His GE tally would have been 10 had he not been shafted in favour of Nicky Kehoe and Mary Lou McDonald in 2002 and 2007 respectively
