Pain in the hoop to try and read what with all the URL messing but kinda worth it. She is short on mention of women trapped in abusive marriages and apparently just plain 'ol unhapiness is no reason to to get divorced. Those opposed to divorce were probably the ones in the more insecure marriages, who would be unhappier as a divorcee than in an unhappy marriage.

Interestingly, for an idealist she consistently rants on about money when any consideration about marriage, in an ideal world, should be anything but.

Is raving loonie Alice still with us? In some home for the demented, but happy I hope!

If Christy Moore hadn't sung about her she's be just another one of the discredited and forgotten.

Tell that to Ivana Trump. When the Donald starting getting the leg over elsewhere, she didn't get mad - she got everything.

I know several people who were forced to leave the country to get on with their lives when we had no divorce and they were stuck in terrible marriages.

No divorce creates truely terrible situations.

Well, when a marriage officially breaks down, money is what it's all about.

My recollection is of them being stigmatised as cruel or antedeluvian by the media luvvies of the day. The official line was mushy stuff about the right to a second chance at happiness in marriage, based on an unexamined belief that the decision to end a marriage is nearly always a tidy, mutual one.
