Alice is still alive and my favouite quote of hers was in the debate about leagalising condoms: "What man wants anything to do with a girl who has been used and abused by any man who comes along with condoms?".

It was unquestioning subservience to the Catholic Church, like this that led to generations of Irish children being abused.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

Not as extreme as Alice Glenn but not too far off either.
I'm sure we'll hear from them in relation to Lisbon II.

The further they recede into the extremities of our society the better.

If the debate does come up again, I hope it will be a sadder and wiser one, with less blinkered absolutism from both sides. In other words, I hope it'll be informed by the realisation that while divorce is the best outcome for some couples, it is almost never a clean and pleasant one.

So long as there is a fair distribution of resources at the end of a marriage, why would anyone have a problem with divorce laws?

And why would anyone claim that this issue, if it exists, lies solely with women?
this was/is not a ridiculous idea - it still holds water today
